Getting the word out to very young children 4-7 years old about what they can do to help improve our world--especially with information about the type of leader and person Jane Goodall is, about air pollution, water conservation, wildlife and community.
To create a special Earth Day edition of the kid newspaper. This edition will feature information about the Roots and Shoots program as well as the topics of air pollution, water conservation, wildlife and community. And to include thoughts from a child's perspective along with conservation activities and other ideas. This year our project will culminate on Earth Day in April. A television news station has scheduled to come to film a 3 minute special about the kid newspaper the special conservation issue. The news station will tell viewers how they can get a free copy of the conservation+Earth Day issue! We are very excited to share with so many thanks to the generosity of Roots & Shoots. For the conservation issue we have arranged a variety of special interviews and news items to be in the paper. Including a special interview with representatives from the biggest zoo in our state about endangered red pandas. And the zoo has decided to use the Earth Day edition to share some breaking red panda related news! There are also articles about recycling and about kindness. We currently distribute copies of our multi-page 22 x 17 inch 9 months out of the year. It is delivered locally in Utah, and mailed nationally to California, Indiana, Kansas and Oklahoma. It is also mailed internationally to Japan. We deliver it to 65-70 readers most months and then in December that number increases to 150.
