The Problem

We want to make sure everybody in our town can afford a Thanksgiving meal.

Our Plan

For two weeks, we collect food item donations to make boxes. Each box will go to a low-income family that has requested help for the holiday season. We dedicate one delivery day where all boxes are packed and volunteer drivers drop them off on the doorstep of each family. The unpacked items get sent to a local food pantry. In addition, we run a school-wide Penny Drive competition. Each house has a jar and their goal is to get as many pennies as possible, yet silver coins subtract points. It works as a competition, and the house that has the most positive points wins. These coins are then used to buy turkeys and fresh vegetables to put in the boxes.
