The Problem
My research revealed there was a clear environmental need for frequent litter clean ups because most of the parks in the DFW area are located next to creeks. It is estimated that 75% of the waste in these waterways comes from land sources. This litter finds its way into creeks which then finds it way to the Trinity River and eventually into Gulf of Mexico. Trinity river was ranked third most polluted river in Texas, with about 912,685 lbs. of litter.
