The Problem

Our Kids Care want to help provide an urban habitat for our pollinators since they have lost their homes due to deforestation and increase of developed areas. They will also work towards decreasing plastic waste and beautifying our community by creating a mural made out of collected plastic bottle caps.

Our Plan

Our Kids Care Group has chosen 2 projects to complete. The first project is to create a pollinator garden to provide a safe resting spot for pollinators. They recently had a virtual trip to the Jamaica Wildlife Preserve. They learned that our pollinators are in danger due to a destruction of their habitats. They would like to plant specific plants native to our Northeastern State, create homes out of recycled materials and provide water sources. The 2nd project is to help reduce garbage entering our landfills and at the same time beautifying our school community. Students will create a campaign to collect bottle caps at a central location in school. The bottle caps will be used to create a mural to beautify our neighborhood. The mural’s message would be to encourage our whole community to recycle, reduce, and reuse in order to protect our environment.
