Here is how the project went:

The project went as well as it could, knowing that our School Administration has not been great with supporting the GHS Root and Shoots group. However, we were able to reach out to many students at Gateway, and the media posts were spread widely throughout Instagram. This project has made our group more intent on being a "larger" media campaign, in which we will use social media platforms to engage a wider audience.

Through this project I/we learned:

Throughout this project, we learned that being relevant on social media is a difficult challenge. We tried to reach our school and other members within our community through carefully designed digital posters, that would aim to educate our community on the COVID-19 crisis. A few members in our group worked together to gather research on unbiased information, develop a template for our posters, and eventually post the flyers on our social media. Both of the flyers that were posted, focused on developing a larger awareness of the pandemic while providing correct information. This was due to the consistent sensationalized media that continue to be distributed throughout our community and influencing how people handle the realities of this crisis.

What I/we might change:

If we did this project again, we would change numerous things. Firstly, we would aim to have a larger base on social media prior to posting our "campaigns". This is essential to create an increased interaction with the Kissimmee Roots and Shoots group! Secondly, I would want to work more with the School Administration to promote our message, as the lack of "approval" served as a hindrance to this project, and to future projects. Another thing we would change is the frequency of posting. We had posted this for 3 weeks, at least twice a week. We want to develop more media campaigns that are informational, fun, and fluid - we also want to be more recognized by our community, and in order to do that, we need to be much more active.

My/our favorite part of this project was:

My favorite part of this project was the actual research process and the creation of flyers! I enjoyed researching, as I exposed myself to true news on the pandemic, as well as the variety of information behind it: whether it be the politics, economy, or social impacts that it implicates. This was also my inspiration for the campaign, as I felt that it was necessary for every person to be involved with a stable education, that would provide unbiased coverage and tips on the emergency situation.

Some tips, tricks or fun facts about the project:

My biggest tip would be to ensure that many people are viewing and sharing the flyers so that numerous communities become educated on your campaign and the message that you are trying to share. <3
