The Problem
We have a rescue farm and an organic garden right here on campus, YAY! We are very involved with projects all the time. Right now, we are looking at conserving water, providing fresh water to our chickens, and redirecting water from storm drain to garden spaces.
Our Plan
We have already started with the chicken waterers, we have are replacing an inefficient, dirty waterer with a water line that provides fresh clean water to our chickens. We started that project a week ago and are half way done. Our next project to tackle is to re-route dirty pond water from runoff to storm drains, to gardens that will love the nitrogen rich water. Our last project in this series is to fill a pond that has no pump system for our waterfowl as an extra water space, and create a pump system that uses human energy, like perhaps a bicycle, to pump this water to a food forest that we will be planting in the near future.
