Think about the people in your community and the assets/resources are available to them.

Make a list of your community’s human assets (in your head or on paper!) Use the list below to help you brainstorm.

Human Assets
  1. Places for school/work
  2. Major streets
  3. Areas of leisure
  4. Libraries/Community centers
  5. Places of worship
  6. Grocery stores, farmer's markets, favorite restaurants
  7. Hospitals or clinics
  8. Shelters and food banks
  9. Fire and police stations

Reflect on your list and consider, what is one thing you could do to help humans in your community? Write down your idea(s).

Animals

Think about the animals in your community and the assets/resources are available to them.

Make a list of your community’s animal assets.

ANIMAL ASSETS
  1. Animal sightings, species
  2. Domestic animal use (dog parks, dog friendly trials, etc.)
  3. Animal shelters
  4. Animal control facility
  5. Animal hospitals
  6. Animal sanctuaries
  7. Zoos and aquariums

Environment

Think about the environment in your community.

Make a list of your community’s environmental assets.

Environmental Assets
  1. Wild and/or protected spaces
  2. Bodies of water
  3. Mountains, beaches, etc.
  4. Recycling centers, landfill/waste management
  5. Water facilities
  6. Power sources (coal, nuclear, wind, solar and geothermal power plants)
  7. Environmental services (watersheds, reservoirs, wetlands)
