The Problem
Malaysia is not party to the 1951 Refugee Convention and lacks a legislative and administrative framework to address refugee matters. Our goal is to provide our children with basic education and life skills to prepare them for adulthood when they are resettled to their new adopted country organized by the UNHCR or if they are required to continue to wait in Malaysia of if they one day return to their country.
Our Plan
Mentoring and caring for refugee children in Kuala Lumpur between the ages of 3-15, I serve as an English Grammar, Reading, and Mathematics teacher for Primaries 1 and 4, teaching them every Sunday from 10pm-12am, Tuesdays from 11pm-12am, and Thursdays from 10pm-12am. I help coordinate and plan lesson plans with other teachers from my school. \"SINCE 2020 STUDENTS AT REGIS HIGH SCHOOL HAVE PLAYED AN INTEGRAL PART IN OUR DIGITAL SYLLABUS. THESE STUDENTS COMPLEMENT OUR CHILDREN\'S LEARNING, AS WELL AS PROVIDE A CHANNEL FOR COMMUNICATION AND DIALOG DURING THE HOURS WHEN THERE ARE NOT SUFFICIENT EDUCATORS TO TEACH IN PERSON AT OUR LEARNING CENTRE. WE CURRENTLY HAVE AROUND 35 VOLUNTEERS FROM REGIS HIGH SCHOOL\"
