We celebrate these chimpanzees on July 14th each year because, on July 14, 1960, Dr. Jane Goodall first stepped foot into what is currently Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania to begin her work with wild chimpanzees which changed the way we regard these incredible animals in a historic way.
