We are (and have been) collecting cans and bottles to donate to Veterans and Soldiers. Working with a 2nd grade class and Teacher friend, we wanted to combine our LOVE of animals and community as it borders on the environmental, as well. My colleague and friend, recently lost her mom. In her memory, we honor her gift-giving, empathy and her patriotism.
This is an on-going project, but we wanted it to be our Community Service for December and January. The mom of one of my students is a sailor on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower Aircraft Carrier. In addition to our K 9 donation, we are writing letters to Ms. Walcott, her sailor friends and sending a large care package for Christmas. These activities will span during December 2017 and January 2018.
