My fifth grade students will create weaving stations on the playgrounds of our school for students to become aware of the things in their environment. The items that are picked up while playing at recess become the tapestry; grass, leaves, trash, etc.
The project will require digging a hole and concreting a 4x4 in the hole. The frame of the weaving station will be a box made of 2x4's attached to the post. Students will string twine vertically and horizontally an inch apart to create a grid. Then students will weave found items on the playground into their own tapestry.
