This project "We Speak for the Bees" will help spread awareness of the plight of the Honeybee in North America. We will educate the public on how our lifestyles and eating habits are killing off the honeybees and how we can help to change the conditions that are creating havoc to the bees and humans that depend on the honeybees to pollinate the food we eat.
School children on Long Island, NY, will research what is causing the problems for honeybee survival and how they can help to save the honeybees from the danger of extinction.
They will educate themselves and others of the dangers that insecticides in our agriculture fields and backyards are doing to the beneficial insects, like the honeybee, and in turn to the human consumer. They will educate others on the possibility of helping to save the bees by buying and consuming organic food.
The students will choose a way to create public awareness to the plight of the honeybee through media of their choice.
