The Problem
Teen mental health is the invisible pandemic, affecting every 1 in 5 students just in the United States. In my home state, New Jersey, this rate increases with an unfortunate 2 in 5 students affected. It is important that the youth in today's world learn to combat the challenges of mental health through passive strategies so they can continue to meet their personal and school goals while having a positive mindset!
Our Plan
My project, Unwind Your Mind, will organize safe and simple Monthly Mindfulness Challenges at local community centers such as the library. I will distribute activity packages for these challenges containing supplies, a handmade instructions manual, and an invitation to a zoom meeting (making participation free of cost to all students). In addition, I will be hosting bi-monthly mental health zoom seminars and group workshops where I will focus on a particular aspect of teen mental health (e.g balancing school work and extracurriculars, the importance of sleep, and staying safe on social media)
