The Problem
This project is starting off with two goals in mind: to stop and prevent the continued vandalism and destruction of school restrooms, encourage students to pick up after themselves and not litter, and ensuring that all students on campus are treated equally and with respect. Ms. Yip's fourth grade class at Potrero Heights Elementary felt that these issues were the ones that affected them and their peers the most. They hope that by kicking-off this project, other students and teachers will join in.
Our Plan
To stop vandalism and destruction, and encourage school beautification, the class will create 1-minute skit presentations showing various instances of the actions taking place, and record them using a video camera. These videos will then be put onto CDs and distributed to other classrooms so other students can be made aware and encouraged to stop their negative behavior. They also plan to start "junior janitors" to have students make sure their peers are not littering or wasting food at lunchtime. To promote kind behavior and "the golden rule," they will make posters around the school with positive messages.
