The Problem
The Southern SeaQuestrians (SSQ) is a scuba diving club led primarily by active seniors dedicated to water safety, marine education, environmental stewardship, and community outreach. Through our community programs, we have learned that many Metro Atlanta residents are unaware that scuba diving is locally accessible, that youth as young as 10 can become certified, or that diving offers educational, recreational, and career opportunities.
Our Plan
To address this, SSQ will present "Through the Blue Lens: Stories of the Southern SeaQuestrians", a free public environmental education initiative featuring a professional underwater photography exhibition and youth-focused citizen science workshops. The project will engage youth, families, educators, and lifelong learners by increasing awareness of aquatic ecosystems, water conservation, and marine science. By inspiring curiosity and responsible environmental stewardship, the project will encourage participants to protect waterways, appreciate marine life, and explore meaningful educational, recreational, and career pathways connected to our oceans and freshwater resources.
