The Problem
The problem we want to fix is poor water quality in Manuel’s Branch in Fort Myers, caused by runoff and urban pollution that lead to high nutrient levels, turbidity, and bacterial contamination.
Our Plan
To address this, the project will include monthly water testing at public sites, student-led cleanups, and planting native vegetation like soft stem bulrush and creeping spikerush to help filter runoff.
