The Problem

The problem we want to fix is overconsumption, especially among high school students.

Our Plan

At their respective high schools, students aim to organize at least one clothing drive with their school's environmental or sustainability club, donating gently used clothing. After ensuring the clothing is clean and high-quality, it is resold at a pop-up store on campus, allowing students to repurchase the donated clothes in a "thrifting" experience. All proceeds will be donated back to environmental nonprofits.

Here is how the project went:

It was very successful, we got over 20 bags of donated clothes and were able to resell them successfully. We made over $1200 from this one fundraiser, and we donated the money to Tree People

Through this project I/we learned:

We learned how to advertise the fundraiser to not just students, but also teachers and parents.

What I/we might change:

We would begin accepting clothing donations sooner and put up more advertising around the school for students.

My/our favorite part of this project was:

Selling the clothes. It felt extremely rewarding to see so many students browse through the "shop" and pick out their favorites, then buy them.
