Teaching Japanese/Chinese Character Commonalities (Kanji/Hanzi)

The Problem

I hope to share my passion of learning Japanese and Chinese with younger students (4th, 5th, 6th graders) in the hopes of showing them that learning Asian languages are not as hard as they might think. I also think that it is important to teach kids languages while they are young and can learn languages quickly.

Our Plan

I partnered with an after-school program of 4th - 6th graders called CLASP (Claremont After School Program) which helps kids do homework and learn new activities after school each day throughout the year. The CLASP leaders allowed me to teach for 45 minutes each session with two sessions per day.
