The Problem

A 5th grader was inspired by graffiti artists and their work. Our school's outer appearance is bleak and boring. The student envisioned painted doors that would assist younger student learning. These doors would have the alphabet and numbers on them. He also wants to paint murals on doors and decorate the basketball hoops in the playground. He wants to do this as a community service project to make our schoolyard and sole town park more visually appealing.

Our Plan

We are going to complete this project during our Summer Camp community service week. We have adult volunteers who will supervise and guide children through this service project, following the lead of the project creator, a 5th grade boy. Our project will take approximately 5 days to complete, including scraping the existing paint, planning and stenciling the designs, and painting the murals.
