The Problem
Many members of my Roots & Shoots group and I have decided to forgo the "traditional" spring break and commit our time to a week of service in our community. Our desired outcome for this one project is to prepare meals and feed them to families and individuals in need; but also to hopefully begin to let others in our age group know that it is just as much fun, or more, to work together and make a difference during vacation time.
Our Plan
Our Roots & Shoots group will gather at the Eleanor Klugh Jackson House for Crisis Intervention, a local food pantry, early on a Saturday; one of the busiest days of the week for serving meals. We will plan, prepare, cook and serve food to the hungry. We will also volunteer to bag rice, stock shelves, clean and do anything we can to help those in need and assist the great people who provide the services to those in need all year long.
