The Problem

New Jersey is currently seeing a rise in the spotted lanternfly, an invasive species that is destroying many indigenous crops. Many counties are under quarantine for the insect, and we are asked to destroy any lanternfly that is spotted to "stomp out the spread".

Our Plan

Students will design spotted lanterfly traps, to catch as many. bugs as possible without using harmful insecticides. Additionally, the bugs are very hard to kill by hand or foot, so the traps designed will improve efficiency.
