The Problem
Pinecrest Schools Roots & Shoots group is creating a community co-op garden for the school. The title will be: PVA Sow & Grow. Our community has 65% of its residents over age 65. It is a recreation area with many lakes, rivers, state, and national forest. It is below the national and state average income level. Many people cannot afford basic living needs. The co-op garden will offer a place to learn and work in the garden. When its harvest time, the community member’s young, and old with share the gardens produce. This will also teach young community members how to grow food and preserve the fresh produce, In addition, it will help reduce the cost of food.
