The Problem

The ongoing threat of plastic pollution and lack of education on single-use plastic and possible alternatives.

Our Plan

To educate people on the impact of single-use plastic and how to reduce our excessive use of it. I will create an online challenge for the month of July for people to join, in order to learn how to reduce their plastic waste as well as the impact plastic has on the environment.

Here is how the project went:

I was very happy with the number of participants and the positive feedback I received. It was fun to organize and I loved the process.

Through this project I/we learned:

The best way to spread information about my project and how difficult it is to actually eliminate plastic from my life. Personally, I focused on just cutting down the amount of single-use plastic that is brought into my home.

What I/we might change:

How I prepare and organize the project. I would strategize for the whole month so I know way ahead of time what dates I want to post certain things and so on.

My/our favorite part of this project was:

The wonderful feedback I received from the participants and the impact it had on my own life.

Some tips, tricks or fun facts about the project:

There are lots of single-use plastic alternatives! For example: reusable grocery bags, water bottles, wood/metal straws, utensils, and more!
