The Problem

The ongoing threat of plastic pollution and lack of education on single-use plastic and possible alternatives.

Our Plan

To educate people on the impact of single-use plastic and how to reduce our excessive use of it. I will create an online challenge for the month of July for people to join, in order to learn how to reduce their plastic waste as well as the impact plastic has on the environment.

Here is how the project went:

There was a bit of an increase in participants this year! Participants aside, however, the project was a big success!

Through this project I/we learned:

Preparation is everything. I put extra effort into getting participates and information sorted ahead of time this year. This made the month of July so much smoother. I had all the information I needed for my posts and people had already signed up ahead of time.

What I/we might change:

I would like to find a way to spark more enthusiasm for the project. Perhaps sharing it via more platforms would be helpful.

My/our favorite part of this project was:

Being able to prepare ahead of time! I also loved getting to share the amazing facts and information I gathered.

Some tips, tricks or fun facts about the project:

As a consumer, there is only so much you can do to eliminate plastic from your life, but every little bit counts. In the words of Dr. Jane Goodall, "every individual makes a difference."
