The Problem
1. A lack of education surrounding microplastics 2. A loss of governmental funding for research institutions 3. Low incentivisation to buy from recycling organizations 4. Inaccessibility to advocacy by students
1. A lack of education surrounding microplastics 2. A loss of governmental funding for research institutions 3. Low incentivisation to buy from recycling organizations 4. Inaccessibility to advocacy by students
We address these issues by providing students with a pre-made advocacy kit. It includes 1. A presentation made using data from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and 2. Recycled plastic products sourced from small businesses to sell at fundraisers after the presentation. All the money raised goes directly to microplastics research at WHOI. Our project helps public school students learn, researchers get funding, and recyclers get business. These efforts ultimately impact environmental pollution and protect marine life.
