The Problem

The Young Scholars STEAM Workshops wishes to enlighten Title 1 students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades in discovering learning and knowledge can be fun. Research says children start thinking of dropping out of school as early as the second grade. We want to expand our literacy and science projects to support our youth by increasing an interest in and looking forward to a professional Science career. Instead of twice a year we wish to offer workshops once a quarter in 2016. We have already beautified our neighborhood library by funds and receiving book donations to give them 2,000 books. We wish to continue offering the workshops all around the city to schools and neighborhood centers. Even parents can still consider a Science online class, hobby, community service or pursue a Science career.

Our Plan

We promote life-long learning to the parents, youth 3rd, 4th and 5th grades , and volunteer student leaders in grades 6th and up. Our inner city low income neighborhoods will greatly benefit from meeting and talking to Professional Coaches we have recruited that want to work with them to increase the representation of minorities in Science classes and careers. Our workshops Coaches Give confidence and self esteem to both youth and adults by referring them to free college programs, free or low cost classes, internships and ways to apply for scholarships. We are being mentored ourselves by High School and College Science teachers.
