The Problem

As a 2022 GTF with National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions, I went to the high arctic this past summer. I would like to connect my GTF project with Roots and Shoots to teach my students about climate change. Our school community does not have a garden. We would like to create a garden to beautify the campus, create educational opportunities, and help the pollinators in our environment. We believe this garden will encourage others to spend more time outside, become engaged in the process of gardening, and develop a responsibility to our planet. We would like to start with an indoor greenhouse and then transport plants outside to beautify the environment and help the pollinators.

Our Plan

1. Set up the indoor Greenhouse. 2. Decorate the flower pots that will be used. 3. Germate seeds. 4. Place seeds in a pot. 5. Watch plants grow in the Greenhouse. 6. Transport plants to a garden outside. This project will be completed in the Spring of 2023.
