The Problem

To educate young children about the care and maintenance of pets and domestic animals to include cats (local Arabian Mao), dogs, and backyard free range chickens. Our community is made up of people from all over the world who have moved to Abu Dhabi for better employment opportunities. These people arrive with vastly different ideas about how to care for pets and domestic animals. My hope is to help educate young children to love and care for animals and to have respect for them as fellow feeling creatures. The project will also aim to teach children about where food comes from and how to grow subsistence crops of fruits and vegetables in a small community allotment.

Our Plan

The project will evolve to match the interests of our community and the children enrolled in our program. We will start with a program to spay and neuter the dozens if street cats in our neighborhood to prevent overpopulation, to find loving adoptive homes for the cats that have domestic potential, and with the care and feeding of laying hens raised in a free range environment. We will also strive to teach children about where food comes from by growing subsistence crops from seed in our small community allotment. More to come as this new project gets underway!
