The Problem

Many young students grow up without understanding that plants are living things that require care and play a crucial role in our environment. Because of this, they may see plants as objects rather than as living organisms, which can lead to a lack of awareness and respect for nature. This disconnect at a young age can make it more difficult for students to develop environmentally responsible habits as they grow older.

Our Plan

Members of the Roots & Shoots club will lead a hands-on barley sprout planting activity with FP students. Students will plant their own seeds using a growing kit, water them, and observe their growth over time. Club members will guide the students throughout the process and explain the basic needs of plants, including sunlight, water, and air. Through this activity, students will learn that plants are living things that need care and attention. They will also explore the important role plants play in our environment, helping them develop a sense of responsibility and respect for nature from a young age.
