The Problem

Students in our self-contained special education classrooms, students with ASD, and multilingual ESOL students have had limited access to the hands-on garden and STEAM learning experiences that are part of our school’s year-long PBL initiatives. Many students do not see their cultures, abilities, languages, or learning needs reflected in these outdoor learning spaces.

Our Plan

Students, teachers, and families will work together to design and build a sensory crop garden and a multicultural crop garden that are accessible, inclusive, and culturally representative. These spaces will provide meaningful hands-on learning opportunities while supporting pollinators, environmental stewardship, and stronger connections across our school community.
