The Problem

The Riverview Farmstand project expands our school-based garden and chicken program to address food insecurity among our students and families. Many of our families live in low-income communities with limited access to fresh, affordable produce and eggs. Through this project, students will grow vegetables, care for chickens, and operate a farmstand that distributes fresh produce and eggs to the school community. Students will take part in planting, harvesting, packaging, and selling products, building real-world vocational and life skills. The project supports people by increasing access to healthy food, supports animals through humane chicken care, and benefits the environment through sustainable gardening practices. This project serves students with disabilities and their families while strengthening community connections and promoting food justice.

Our Plan

Expanding the Farmstand program across all Riveriview School sites.
