The Problem

We want to clean up our community, plant beautiful trees if love, bring the community together to fight and combat racial equality, violence, bullying and showcase peace, love and not pollution.

Our Plan

We will invite anyone that’s interested and being a part of this wonderful event. We already have a total of 50 youth involved and committed. This event will be youth led and involvement along with Educators, Parents, Community leaders and supporters. We will have a volunteered cleanup of our community and parks. Guest youth speakers to inspire, motivate and empower others to join hands in peace, love, and non-violence. We will use our voices to speak on the importance of not polluting our beaches and lakes to protect nature and the environment. We will hold a candle vigil and plant trees to represent love, peace, and kindness.

Here is how the project went:

We organized and engaged over 80 committed youth to become agents of change in their schools, community and neighbors to speak on the importance of preserving our environment, non-violence and keeping our community and neighborhoods clean by planting trees of love, peace, kindness and helping our elderly and less fortunate. We used the money to purchase supplies and tools we need to carry out this project. We provided t-shirts for all participants and snacks as well. The funding was used to expand this project throughout our community, schools and to make this a yearly event in hopes of securing more funding over the years to impact other communities as well. We’ve been successful with past cleanups of our beaches, lakes and schools but now we see a greater need for more and to enlarge our capacity. There’s a huge need for this project to give the youth an opportunity for leadership roles and a voice to inspire other future leaders on the things that truly matters and that’s making the world a better place for all humanity and living things. We want to continue to have clean water, beautiful plants and trees and protect our environment. The community and audience involved were youth-led with adults supervising the entire project to ensure the success and the commitment is carried out. With this great opportunity we showed impact, enlargement of the organization to impact other communities and bring on more youth for future projects. Our youth were very excited about becoming the next future agents of change. The funding assisted us in purchasing the supplies we needed to make this project a success.

Through this project I/we learned:

We learned the importance of helping your neighbor but your community on a larger scale. We learned it's important to have committed individuals that's willing to step up and do the hard work until the project is complete. We learned the importance of trusting and relying on each other in order for us to be successful. We learned that a group of people can actually work together, get along, communicate effectively and make a huge difference in their community.

What I/we might change:

We wouldn't change a single thing but to seek out more volunteers and donations to make a greater impact.

My/our favorite part of this project was:

The lighting of the candles and everyone hugging, singing and shedding tears of joy!

Some tips, tricks or fun facts about the project:

Make sure you seek those out that loves helping and giving back to their communities. Have everyone to sign a letter of commitment with a plan of action and things that needed to be done. And have fun while doing it!
