The Problem

Our group noticed many retirement homes in our community have been in isolation due to COVID-19. We picked one large retirement home to make personalized Valentine’s Day cards for. We hope this will bring a sense of community, compassion, and selflessness to our area. We also hope it will start a chain reaction for others to join.

Our Plan

We are planning to make as many Valentine’s cards, and posters to show the residents of the retirement home that they are not alone, and we are thinking of them.

Here is how the project went:

This project was simple, yet effective. It went well despite the many challenges we faced! We were hit with a huge ice storm which made transportation of the Valentines difficult. We were delayed, but managed to successfully deliver the goodies!

Through this project I/we learned:

What I/we might change:

When we do this project again, we might change the level of involvement from outside supporters. We want family, friends, and the whole community involved. We would also like to make this an event where everyone comes together to make the Valentine’s!

My/our favorite part of this project was:

Our favorite part of this project was receiving pictures of the residents smiling faces, and creating hope in our community.

Some tips, tricks or fun facts about the project:

It is so fun to create cards as a group! Add stickers, glitter, magazine collages, etc. Get creative!
