The Problem
Our goal is to reduce the amount of waste that our school generates, and increase our recycling rate. We would like to educate our students and staff about recycling and make recycling a habit.
Our Plan
We start collecting recycling the first week of school, and we finish on the last day of school. Our Recycling Club collects the recycling bins every Thursday morning. My third grade students pick up the recycling bins from non-classroom settings (e.g. Nurse's office, workrooms, computer lab, etc.), and 2 students from each Kindergarten through 6th grade class bring their classroom recycling bins to the lobby. My students help the other students sift through the bins in search of non-recyclable items, and teach the students about recycling appropriately.
