The Problem

2017 Update : Unfortunately, the Memory loss center pulled out of our project last May. The girls were dismayed but were determined to find another home for our project. We have spent the last seven months trying to find somewhere suitable. After a number meetings, phone calls, and emails, we are happy to find another plot for our greenhouse. We will be building in the spring at our local school district pre-school. The school educates students with varying disabilities as well as mainstream students aged from 3 to 5 years. Update September 2017 - We finished at last. Around 2000 plastic bottles being repurposed, and children from the preschool and an elementary will use the greenhouse to supplement their gardening program. We organized a book drive on storybooks about gardening and healthy eating. We collected around 40 books. We finished the gardening lesson binders, purchased work tables, gardening tools, storage totes and a wheelbarrow. We will be excited to see the greenhouse being used.

Our Plan

We plan to build a greenhouse made out of plastic bottles. We will build a wooden frame and make the walls/roof/door using a 1 and 2-liter bottles and 6ft dowels. We will also create a gardening curriculum for the teachers to use.
