The Problem
To help the under privilege a chance to have mobility by giving them a prosthetic limb, with these ring pull tabs, collected at least 3000 pieces makes a prosthetic limb. Till date Sri KDU international Eco School Students has participated and collected just over 190 KG worth of ring pull tabs. One of our Eco Kids, a Year 8 student name Megan Yap found this site where these ring pull tabs are collected all over South Asia Pacific and sent to a factory in Chang Mai in Thailand, where they are melted down to make prosthetic limbs.
Our Plan
We would like to target to collect 1000 KG worth of ring pull tabs, that will enable to help contribute in the making of 1300 pieces of prosthetic limbs, and these limbs are sent to Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia to helping those in need of a limb. Not only can we help the community but by donating we also help the wildlife, as an Elephant in Thailand who lost her limb in 2006,from a land mind has now gotten a prosthetic leg because of this campaign. Our students are getting their families, together along with local communities from the food and beverage industries to help them collect the ring pull tabs, even as far out as the North of Malaysia from Penang from connections their families have to spreading this goodwill cause.
