The Problem
My goal for this project is to assist homeless and low-income women in my area by donating feminine hygiene products to local food pantry/assistance programs, and to address the taboo surrounding menstruation in my community.
My goal for this project is to assist homeless and low-income women in my area by donating feminine hygiene products to local food pantry/assistance programs, and to address the taboo surrounding menstruation in my community.
First, I will prepare and deliver donation boxes at local businesses to collect menstrual hygiene products such as pads and tampons. I will advertise the Project: Pink drive by sending out press releases, distributing flyers, and using a social media hashtag to raise awareness about this project, which might help us gather more donations.
To address the taboo surrounding menstruation, I will look into hosting a project table at community events. I will create an informational flyer/pamphlet to distribute about town, and I plan to reach out to local news sources about writing articles about the need for menstrual products, and possibly interviewing local medical professionals and leaders of organizations serving women and low-income families.
