The Problem

Soil is dying. 52% of agricultural soils are already degraded. Lack of organic content turns soil into sand leading to the food crisis, water scarcity, loss of bio diversity, climate change, loss of livelihood, conflict and migration. Content Courtesy: SaveSoil.org

Our Plan

Conduct an experiment by growing lima bean plant in pots containing 1.rich organic soil 2. sand and dirt. We are going to document the observations every day and present it to the class/school to raise awareness about the importance of rich organic soil for our future. We are also going to use art as a means to convey the message. We also plan on presenting the observations to our state legislators and writing letter to them to bring in policies to save soil. Join the movement with Sadhguru. Become an Earth Buddy. Update: The Project Lima Bean - Save Soil was successful. The conclusion was plants need rich organic soil to grow and thrive. Soil that is eroded and lacking in nutrients and reduced to sand does not help in plant growth. This shows the importance of having a rich organic soil for the next generation. Presentation was done in the class to raise awareness and take steps to save soil.
