The Problem
Empower youth in underserved communities with better food literacy and accessible approaches to greener living.
Empower youth in underserved communities with better food literacy and accessible approaches to greener living.
We'll achieve this with a plant-forward home economics series, including farm-to-table cooking & natural apothecary labs.
My series went really well. Learners were excited to participate in the various seasonal home economics labs and naturally learn along the way! Teachable moments with hands-on labs is a recipe for success.
My community wants inclusive and accessible programming that supports their efforts towards more sustainable living and learning. I’ve learned there’s a great need for basic cooking, buying, and home management skills relevant to today's pace of life.
I would better train my support staff w/ general food service practices and create class standards (supply lists & protocols) that apply to any location I may be hosting classes at.
Connecting with my students, on subject matter that affects them on a daily basis!
Start each class with seasonal trivia. It's a great conversation starter and opportunity to lead into the day's lab or guided lesson.
