The Problem

STEM Launch is a problem-based learning model STEM school. The problem our kindergarten students are trying to solve is two-fold. Due to the lack of green spaces and parks in our urban community, pollinators lack the habitat needed to survive and our school needs to be more welcoming for our students and their families.

Our Plan

Our goal is to plant a pollinator garden in our front flower beds thus creating a warm, welcoming environment for our students and their families while also creating a safe, sustainable habitat for pollinators in this urban environment. The pollinator gardens would provide opportunities for students to collect data from a biology lens as well as pollinator data. Students will be responsible for the upkeep of the garden as an aspect of their service learning. This garden would bring habitat and happiness to life in an area of our school that is currently undesirable and unwelcoming.
