The Problem
We want to help fix the issue of biodiversity and habitat loss for our pollinators. We also want to focus on inclusion, poverty and equity, and kindness.
We want to help fix the issue of biodiversity and habitat loss for our pollinators. We also want to focus on inclusion, poverty and equity, and kindness.
We have chosen to grow individual pollinator gardens throughout our county, at our own homes, and a community garden plot. We also plan to hand out seed starts to low-income neighborhoods to spread kindness, and spread flowers for the pollinators. We plan to harvest some of the flowers that we grow to deliver to our elder community living in the county-run nursing home. Many residents at this nursing home do not receive visitors, cards, or flowers, and we want them to feel connected and included to the extent that we are able. Not only will our approach help the environment and our pollinator friends throughout the county, we will also help low-income communities and our elder community through our service project of delivering flowers each week.
