The Problem

Our Second Graders at Newbury Elementary School would like to see everyone making an effort to create pollination stations. We have been researching ways to help bees and other pollinators. We would be ecstatic if everyone would plant pollinator friendly plants. This could include shrubs and trees like dogwood, blueberry, cherry, plum, willow, and poplar. This could also include a mixture of plants such as crocus, hyacinth, snapdragons, zinnias, hosta, foxglove, cosmos, witch hazel, sedum, lavendar, rhododedron, thyme, forget-me-not, sage, dasies, rosemary, mint, oregano and more.

Our Plan

For our project, we will write reports and create posters to present to our school showing why bees and other pollinators are important. We will ask them for help and assign each class something to grow that will help the pollinators. We will then take these plants and plant them in our Outdoor Learning Center. We will invite the community to be involved in planting with us and educate as many people as we can on how to help bees and other pollinators thrive in our environment!
