The Problem

Our wish is to raise awareness about the negative impact of littering, especially plastic, on our environment, wildlife, and humans.

Our Plan

As sixth grade students at Holly Shelter Middle School, we were concerned about the amount of littering on our school campus. We started investigating how littering had a negative impact on wildlife, land, and water around us. From that investigation, we learned that littering is a HUGE problem world-wide. We wanted to teach others why it is important to NOT litter, so we created a PowerPoint presentation at the end of the school year. NOW, as seventh grade students, we want to continue our work and make it public to the world! We will start by teaching other students at our school, using the PowerPoint and broadcasting it live during our morning Mastery session. Then, we will try to get more students involved in the project so that not only is our school campus litter free, but the land and waterways around us benefit from all of our actions. Current NERD Herd leaders are Hannah Raymond, Anyla Hansley, Jamie Montalban, and Paisley Lefler.
