The Problem
Justin recognized that plastic pollution is a worldwide problem. He also recognized that plastic bottles are connected to the lack of clean water in many countries (especially in Africa).

Justin and his pen pals are working to improve water quality and educating youth to use less plastic water bottles.
This project went really well. Rashid, Ali, Shuffa, and Nassor of Roots and Shoots Tanzania worked with Justin in Los Angeles. They worked together on teaching youth from Los Angeles to Zanziabar about the decline of frogs and other endangered species. They then talked about pollution and plastic pollution and water quality. The final goal was to buy a water filter for a school that only had ocean water to drink from the company Life Straw Tanzania.
The students learned the importance of taking care of the environment for people and animals. They learned the importance of clean drinking water for them and the animals. Justin told them how frogs breath and drink through their skins and because the environment is not healthy- the frogs are getting sick which could also lead to people getting sick.
We would probably have an official form to fill out to have more results on how the water filter that was purchased for the school was used.
Our favorite part of the project was seeing all the students with Justin's picture, drawing frogs, and wearing is frog hat and supporting him. And seeing the picture of the school getting the water filter.
Fun facts---- it was soooo exciting to see Dr. Jane Goodall meeting Rashid, Ali, Nassor, and Shuffa because Justin met her too. Then seeing them in the HOPE movie was really amazing for Justin to recognize.
