The Problem

Our community is experiencing a decline in native plant species due to urbanization, which negatively impacts biodiversity, habitats, and water conservation efforts. Many green spaces lack the essential native plants that support pollinators, birds, and other local wildlife, leading to diminished ecosystem health and services. There is a need for more environmental education and hands-on opportunities for children to connect with nature and understand their role in supporting native ecology.

Our Plan

We are planning to host a series of youth-led workshops where kids will learn to propagate native plants from seeds and cuttings. These plants will then be transplanted into local parks and community spaces to support biodiversity, improve soil health, and establish water wise green spaces. To extend the project’s impact, we will host a Plant Native Day, where community members can purchase propagated plants to grow at home. Kids will lead and learn about how they can grow native.
