Microhabitat comparisons at Kirwan State High School

  • Location
    Australia

    Active

The Problem

Students will gain a deeper appreciation for the predominant ecological habitats of their local area as represented in their own school grounds. Students will also understand the positive and negative impacts of human accessibility and actions on the ecological health of these habitats.

Our Plan

Students will engage in an authentic scientific investigation comparing two different microhabitats. Students will gather data on biotic and abiotic factors of each microhabitat and compare the ecological health of the systems. Students will make links between the health of each system and the human accessibility and human actions that occur in that system. Students will make recommendations to school on actions to improve the health of each systems. These recommendations will inform the future projects of Kirwan State High School's CLUB ECO.
