The Problem
We want to be able to provide clothing and hygiene products to the students of our school and community, so they can have what they need to feel confident in themselves.
We want to be able to provide clothing and hygiene products to the students of our school and community, so they can have what they need to feel confident in themselves.
We have created a free clothing closet in our school that is open everyday to our students and community members in need. We take used clothing, shoes, and new hygiene products and make them accessible to everyone. Any excess items we have we give away for free to our local shelters and places that can distribute the items to those in need. We have also started to provide free period products to women in our schools, by placing them in the bathroom.
MavThreads is always really popular in our school. We gave out over 4,000 donations in just one year.
Asking for something you need should not have to be embarrassing. Everyone needs clothes and wants to feel clean. This closet has been a great way of bringing our community together.
Making sure that the people in the closet are helping to keep the room clean and are responsible while they are in there.
Its always fun to see what you can find in the closet, because there are a lot of gems hiding in there.
Use the right language when talking to certain generations. For younger kids if you use the word "thrifting" they will be more likely to shop in that place.
