The Problem
The problem I want to fix is that not enough people are aware of environmental issues.

The action we are planning is to hold a film festival with films made by children about environmental issues to encourage a wider audience to care about and understand them. In past years, we have held the film festival in Howard County, MD, which has been a great host, even listing our event on their Tourism website! This year, the Howard County Arts Council provided us with a grant to host a discussion about the future of the arts in Howard County. We turned that discussion into a teen-led stop motion workshop, and were really excited to have students join who were all already passionate about stop motion, the arts, and the environment. During the workshop, we had an awesome group sharing their thoughts on the arts, while they made a stop motion about farmers in Maryland, their pesticide use, and how it affects the Chesapeake Bay. We've advocated to have some teachers do the lesson in school and to begin gaining more local entries that way. As we go into our third year, we're hoping to make it the best event yet in honor of Jane Goodall. We have opened submissions and are currently exploring venues. We are also partnering with a local conservancy for a giveaway for Earth Day, and to help share the place on our social media as a cool shooting location for kids to encourage Maryland-based entries about local issues.
This year's film festival was held at the Crazy Mason Milkshake Bar in Old Ellicott City, MD. It brought whimsical fun to help engage the audience in environmental awareness.
That everyone can make a difference and make the world a better place.
Promoting the idea more.
When at the end we were pleased it went well.
Be passionate, have a high spirit, keep your hopes up, and never give up!
