The Problem

For our Green Club members to realize how much food is wasted on an average day in our lunchroom.

Our Plan

We saved all the garbage from our lunch period and sorted into eatable food, recyclables, and garbage. We spread all the garbage out on plastic sheets and then gave the kids gloves and contaiiners. When we were done separating the lunch garbage, it was eye-opening for the students. We realized that we needed some separate containers for our lunchroom and even started a composting program.
