The Problem

Pequeña Biblioteca (Little Library) is a project that seeks to bring educational, inspirational and diverse stories to our community! This community asset will also cultivate a community to participate in a community science project!

Our Plan

We plan to build a “Little Library” in the neighborhood and fill it with books that educate, empower and inspire readers young and old. We plan to fill the library with multilingual books that share stories of community resilience and uplift communities of color’s stories. For example, books about George Washington Carver, Wangari Maathai, Cesar Chavez, Junko Tabei and more. In addition to these books being available, we would like to hold a small community event to celebrate our community’s nature by studying the nature in our own neighborhood through a community science project! This will include an invite to an iNaturalist group and information on how we can all be scientists and contribute to discovering the wonders in our community!
